Samavarta is a diverse scavenger hunt series in Berlin, consisting of several quests. In each quest of this outdoor escape game, you'll discover different areas of the city in an exciting and interactive way . You play using an app on your smartphone, solving puzzles your way from station to station. At each station, you'll find riddles and information, all wrapped up in immersive storytelling. Various media formats, such as videos, images, audio, minigames, and augmented reality, ensure variety and fun. At some puzzle stations, you'll even find real-life surprises and puzzle tools right there on site. Even Berlin locals are guaranteed to discover something new!
For anyone who enjoys puzzles and discovery! Tourists will get to know an authentic Berlin, far from the tourist trails. Locals will see their city with new eyes and discover things they didn't know before. The game is recommended for ages 14 and up. Children and young people under the age of 15 must be accompanied by a supervisor who is at least 16 years old (see also GTC).
Quest #1 - The Essence of Forgotten Memories is recommended for 1-4 players, as some stations take place in smaller indoor spaces. Larger groups can easily take turns or split up, since most of the game takes place outdoors. Quest #2 - The Archive of Blooming Wisdom is generally suitable for larger groups.
The Quest #1 - The Essence of Forgotten Memories game consists of 2 parts.
The first part covers 1.5 kilometers and takes approximately 2.5 to 3 hours.
The second part also covers 1.5 kilometers and takes approximately 3 hours. It also depends on how quickly you solve the puzzles :) or how long you linger in the locations and explore. It's a journey of discovery , and there's no time limit. A much shorter alternative is Quest #2 - The Archive of Blooming Wisdom, which takes approximately 2.5-3 hours.
During your mission, you'll pass by various puzzle stations . At some, you'll be asked if these locations are open, as they have specific opening hours . Depending on your answer , you'll encounter either an indoor or outdoor version of the puzzle. Both versions contain the same content, only presented in slightly different formats.
If you want to use your dog as a helpful sniffer dog If you take them with you on the mission, please always play the outdoor versions of the puzzles ( regardless of opening hours) .
Once you've booked your ticket, you can start the game at any time. We recommend playing during the day so that as many puzzle stations as possible are open and you can take advantage of the indoor puzzle variations.
But don't worry, if a station is closed, there are also great outdoor versions of the puzzles. If you want to pause the game or continue playing on another day , that's no problem. Your progress will be saved automatically.
1. The espoto serious games app is your key to the adventure – download it for free in advance. You can find it in the App Store (for iOS) or the Google Play Store (for Android). You will then receive access to the game after purchasing your ticket on our website.
2. Valid ticket for everyone: If you wish to embark on this adventure together, please note that each player needs a valid ticket and the espoto serious games app to participate. You will understand why as the game progresses.
3. Your smartphone: Make sure it's fully charged. It will be your tool for this unique journey. Bring a power bank or charging cable if necessary to ensure your smartphone remains ready for use throughout.
4. A stable internet connection : A few puzzles and videos require an internet connection, as they don't run directly through the app. But don't worry, most of the game is offline and won't use any data.
5. Headphones and notepad: Headphones are essential for listening to secret messages. A notepad and paper can be helpful for solving puzzles in some places, but they aren't strictly necessary if you prefer abstract thinking and/or want to save paper.
6. GPS: Please ensure your GPS is enabled during gameplay (espoto serious games app). Note that you are responsible for your own GPS settings (this applies especially to Android).
7. Water and weather-appropriate clothing: Bring plenty of water and dress appropriately for the season, as you will be spending a lot of time outdoors. Don't forget the sunscreen.
Samavarta consists of 6 different missions/quests, all of which can be played independently. Quest #1 - The Essence of Forgotten Memories is unfortunately not wheelchair or stroller accessible due to stairs along the route. Quest #2 - The Archive of Blooming Wisdom is generally accessible, provided the outdoor option is selected at the relevant stations. Of course, we are happy to answer any questions you may have.
